Joanne is a native of Tecumseh, Michigan, graduating from Tecumseh High School and Adrian College with a B.S. degree in education. Her first teaching position was with the Saline Area Schools, Saline, Michigan, where she taught second grade for three years. Meanwhile, Joanne and Tom were married. They were blessed with two children, Bill and Johanna, and Joanne “retired” to raise them. After moving to Napoleon, she began teaching at St. Paul as the remedial reading/8th grade language arts teacher. Since then she has taught 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and is presently teaching 4th grade. Her family has been blessed with Bill’s wife, Wendy, and grandchildren Tanner and Logan. Joanne finds it difficult to choose between reading and piecing quilts when the time is available. During the summer gardening beckons, along with walks down the road, enjoying her family, and trying to keep up with her grandchildren.
