Board of Stewardship
Objective:
(From St. Paul's Church Constitution)
This Board
shall foster an inspirational, motivational, and educational effort to effect a
total stewardship life in the calling given each Child of God as revealed in
Holy Scripture.
The Board of Stewardship shall:
- Encourage the joyful,
worshipful, proportionate first-fruit giving in response to blessings
received and for recognized needs of the kingdom.
- Conduct an on-going
program of Mission information and education.
- Publicize and promote an
annual stewardship program giving every member an opportunity to make a
commitment of his treasure for Kingdom work through the congregation.
- Determine and direct the
emphasis for continuing stewardship education programs throughout the
congregation and its educational agencies.
- Develop and maintain a
talent file of all members and enlist them for service in the Kingdom.
Provide for prompt recording of the talents of new members in conjunction
with the Board of Outreach and Assimilation.
- Provide training for
involvement in congregational service and life.
- Enlist GREETERS to serve
at each service to welcome all who come to worship.
- Review and study
suggestions from the Stewardship departments of Synod, District, and
Circuit.
- Promote attendance at
Stewardship seminars.
- Disseminate information on
and promote investments in the Ohio District Church Extension Fund.
- Encourage members of the
congregation to support the work of the church through trusts, bequests, and
memorials.
- Assume responsibility for
the procedures to be followed for receiving, depositing, and recording of
all funds and monthly remittance of offerings for Missions and the
church-at-large.
- Enlist a staff to tabulate
and record all contributions to the individual accounts of congregational
members.
- Supervise mailing of
contribution statements to individual members at specified intervals.
- Appoint necessary
personnel to assist the Financial Administrator and Treasurer in the fulfillment
of their duties.
- Requisition and distribute
offering envelopes.
- Supervise the LWML CIRCLES
for administrative purposes and program development.
- Preserve all church
financial records for the appropriate number of years upon the advice of
legal council
- Consist of 8 members, with
each member serving a 2 year term of office. Four Board members shall
be elected each year and a member may succeed himself for one additional
term.
- Meet during the month of
June to re-organize for the coming year. All out-going and
newly-elected members shall be present to insure a continuity of programs
and activities.
- Elect one member to serve
as Director, one member to serve as Secretary, and one member to serve on
the Board of Compensation. The Director shall also serve as a member
of the Parish Planning Council. The Secretary shall keep a permanent
set of minutes of each meeting and such minutes shall be the property of the
congregation. A copy of the minutes shall also be given to the
President of the congregation.
- Establish job descriptions
and responsibilities for each member of this Board.
- Submit an annual budget as
requested by the Parish Planning Council and the Financial Administrator.
- Submit an annual budget recommendation for Missions
to the Parish Planning Council and the Financial Administrator.
- Request a financial review,
if necessary, from any organization, group or committee for which it is
responsible.
- Present a report of its
activities at each regular meeting of the Congregational Assembly.
