Board of Youth Ministry

Objective:
(From St. Paul's Church Constitution)
This Board
shall provide for the spiritual growth of both Junior High School and Senior
High School students. It shall strive to involve them in congregational
activities and promote Christian fellowship.
The Board of Youth Ministry shall:
- Promote attendance at and
involvement in all youth activities.
- Provide for continuing
spiritual growth of the youth through Bible Study, Prayer, and Christian
Service.
- Involve youth and adults
together in planning youth ministry in the congregation.
- Work with other boards to
implement plans for a year-round program for young people.
- Develop a program for
social fellowship in a Christian setting.
- Recruit young people for
full-time service in the church.
- Help in recruiting adult
counselors to assist with youth ministry.
- Coordinate involvement
with Circuit, District, and Synodical youth organizations.
- Provide for public
recognition of various youth achievements and accomplishments.
- Plan a special event to
welcome the newly confirmed youth and encourage them to become active
members of the various youth groups.
- Have a plan to welcome
young people transferring into our congregation.
- Supervise any youth group started within
the congregation for administrative purposes and program development.
- Consist of 6 adult members
elected for a two year term and eight (8) youth, who shall be selected for a
one year term. Three adult members shall be elected each year. An
adult member may succeed himself for one additional term. A youth may
be selected to serve additional terms. The (DCE) shall
be an ex-officio member of this Board.
- Meet during the month of
June to re-organize for the coming year. All out-going and
newly-elected members shall be present to insure a continuity of programs
and activities.
- Elect one member to serve
as Director and one member to serve as Secretary. The Director shall
also serve as a member of the Parish Planning Council. The Secretary
shall keep a permanent set of minutes of each meeting and such minutes shall
be the property of the congregation. A copy of the minutes shall also
be given to the President of the congregation.
- Establish job descriptions
and responsibilities for each member of this Board.
- Submit an annual budget as
requested by the Parish Planning Council and the Financial Administrator.
- Request a financial review,
if necessary, from any organization, group or committee for which it is
responsible.
- Present a report of its
activities at each regular meeting of the Congregational Assembly.
