Social Ministry Committee
Objective:
(From St. Paul's Church Constitution)
This
committee shall exercise leadership in enabling the congregation to fulfill its
obligations of Christian love as expressed in Galatians 6:10, "As we have
opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the
household of faith."
The Social Ministry Committee shall:
- Be responsive to the needs
of ALL groups in the community, regardless of ethnic background or economic
status, in the congregation's endeavors.
- Provide help in time of
any individual's mental, emotional, or physical needs: such as, a need
caused by fire, theft, poverty, death, injury, illness, unemployment, or
imprisonment of a family member, abuse of a child, loneliness, etc. To
those ends, it shall pool available talents with neighboring congregations
and the community at large so that more may be served most effectively.
- Administer an emergency
fund for monetary assistance.
- Evaluated, recommend and
actively encourage a program of gifts from individuals and the congregation
as a whole, for Lutheran social, welfare, and health agencies and for
Lutheran World Relief.
- Consist of eight (8)
members appointed by the President of the Congregation to serve a two (2)
year term of office. The President may re-appoint a member to serve
for additional terms.
- Meet as often as necessary
to fulfill its responsibilities. Provide a copy of the minutes from
each meeting the Chairman of the Board of Outreach and Assimilation.
- Have a annual financial
review completed, and submit this report to the Board of Outreach and
Assimilation.
