Social Ministry Committee

Objective:    (From St. Paul's Church Constitution)

    This committee shall exercise leadership in enabling the congregation to fulfill its obligations of Christian love as expressed in Galatians 6:10, "As we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith."

The Social Ministry Committee shall:

  1. Be responsive to the needs of ALL groups in the community, regardless of ethnic background or economic status, in the congregation's endeavors.
  2. Provide help in time of any individual's mental, emotional, or physical needs: such as, a need caused by fire, theft, poverty, death, injury, illness, unemployment, or imprisonment of a family member, abuse of a child, loneliness, etc.  To those ends, it shall pool available talents with neighboring congregations and the community at large so that more may be served most effectively.
  3. Administer an emergency fund for monetary assistance.
  4. Evaluated, recommend and actively encourage a program of gifts from individuals and the congregation as a whole, for Lutheran social, welfare, and health agencies and for Lutheran World Relief.
  5. Consist of eight (8) members appointed by the President of the Congregation to serve a two (2) year term of office.  The President may re-appoint a member to serve for additional terms.
  6. Meet as often as necessary to fulfill its responsibilities.  Provide a copy of the minutes from each meeting the Chairman of the Board of Outreach and Assimilation.
  7. Have a annual financial review completed, and submit this report to the Board of Outreach and Assimilation.
